For direct mailers, the need for personalization has never been greater. A growing number of companies require their lettershop to have the ability to personalize a piece of mail in more than one location. Historically, laser printing was the only viable option. Unfortunately most laser systems cannot image large format projects, add "highlight " color, or offer true in line finishing.
With the addition of our Kepes Mail Base System and the array of ink jet print heads we have, Nielsen can offer our customers large format duplex imaging, highlight color, plus in line finishing.
Large quantities are not required. In fact, the average quantity range is 10,000 - 50,000 pieces.
How does it work? For example, you have a self-mailer that was 25.5" x 11" flat, folding to a finished size of 8.5" x 5.5". On one side of the sheet you want to address the piece. On the other side there is a variable offer plus an account number in a separate location. Nielsen will run the flat sheet (25.5" x 11") through the Keeps Ink Jet deck imaging both sides at one time (the variable offer is printing in red). From the ink jet, the sheet will travel directly into the folding unit. From there the self-mailer is wafer sealed in line and ready to mail. This is one of many setups this equipment allows.
